    Diffculties and Safety

    Climbing to Gokyo Everest Base Camp-Island Peak is not an easy thing with lots of uphill, downhill and high altitude. Average fitness is required not to be in the pain make sure you have enough walking and climbing experience to enjoy the trek and climb. Most of the days include 4-7 hours walking. Altitude can be the problem too, so drinking lots of fluids and going slowly is important to avoid altitude sickness.
    Your safety is one of our major concern. Your Trekking guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns.  Since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. The Guide will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

    • Arriving Kathmandu Airport, our office representative will meet you at the airport, transfer you to the hotel for some free time to explore the Thamel area of Kathmandu. (Overnight at hotel on BB basis).

    • After the breakfast, the company owner and your trekking guide will meet you at the hotel and discus all the programs and coordinate any last-minute arrangements. After our meeting, one of the our professional tour guides will take you for a sightseeing trip for 3 hours and then back to the hotel. The rest of the day you can use for travelling around Thamel and buying any last minute essentials for the trek. (Overnight at hotel on BB basis).

    • Fly to Lukla (2804m) Trek to Phakding (2610m) 3-4 hours.(Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Trek to Namche Bazaar from Phakding (3440m.) 6 hours. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Namche Bazaar acclimatization day. You can do a day trip around the local area to enjoy the beautiful Himalayan views including Mt Everest, wild animals and the Tibetan Monastery, (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Trek to Dole from Namche (4000m) 5-6 hours. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Trek to Machhermo from Dole(4400m) 4-5 hours (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Trek to Gokyo Lake from Machhermo(4750m) 4 hours (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Hike to Gokyo Ri (5360m) 3-4 hours and trek down to Thangnak (4700m.) 2.5-3 hours
      It will be the one of  the most beautiful mornings of your trip. Wake up Early and hike to the Gokyo-Ri, for a panoramic view of the Himalayan range including the top of the world, Everest. It takes approximately 2hrs to climb and 1 hour to walk back to the tea house and countinue our trek to Thangnak. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Cross Cho La pass (5368m) then trek to Dzongla (4830 meters) 6-8 hours (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Trek to Lobuche (4910m) from Dzongla, 4 hours. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Lobuche trek to Gorakshep (5180m), 2.5-3 hours.After lunch continue to Everest base camp (5365m) 4-5 hours both way and overnight at Gorakshep. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Gorakshep to kalapattr and trek down to Dingboche. 7hrs. Another beautiful morning hike to Kala Patthar (5545m), 2 hours. Enjoy the superb Himalayan views including Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Nuptse (7855m), Pumori (7161m), and once more trek down to dingboche (4400m) from Gorak shep 4-5 hours. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • On the way to Chhukung the we can see beautiful close view of Island Peak and other mountains . Chhukung is the village of small settlements of Sherpa People frm everest region. Overnight at Tea house on full board basis.

    • Trek to Island Peak Base Camp. (5200m) 3-4 hrs. Overnight at tented camp on full board basis.

    • Trek to High Camp (5600m.) 3 hrs .
      We have to trek in High Camp and today is the preparation day for climbing Island peak. Overnight at tented camp on full board basis.

    • Island peak Summit (6189m) and back to chhukung.
      We have to continuously walking through the glacier of snow. After reaching Summit of Island Peak we can see many mountains view and we can also see Lhotse (south face). After the summit our trail goes downward to Base Camp to Chhukung. Overnight at Tea house on Full board basis.

    • Trek back to tangboche (3860m.m) 5-6hrs. overnight at tea house on full board basis.

    • Trek to Namche Bazaar (3441m.) 4-5 hours. From Pheriche we go all the way down to Pangboche, then climb for 30min to Tangboche stop for lunch and make our way up and down to Namche Bazzar. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Trek to Lukla (2804 m.) 6 – 7hours.
      Finally, the trek back to Lukla and enjoy your last night in the Himalaya. Time to thank to your porter and wait for the next early morning flight to kathmandu. (Over night at tea house on full board basis).

    • Morning flight back to Kathmandu.
      Enjoy the 35 minute scenic flight back to Kathmandu. (Overnight at hotel on BB basis).

    Accommodation & Food details

    We will provide tourist standard accommodations in Kathmandu and this is possible to upgrade in your choice.  All the accommodation in the cities and trekking will provided on twin sharing basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost extra.

    During Gokyo Everest Base Camp-Island Peak climbing, we will provide tents accomodation and authentic Nepalese food (Dal Bhat) as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). 3 main course meals will be provided during trekking and only breakfast is included while you are in Kathmandu and.

    Best Time To Visit

    Autumn (Sept to Nov) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons to do Gokyo Everest Base Camp-Island PeakClimbing. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views.

     

    However, the temperature during winter could be harsh for most guests and there chance to get snow too. Climbing in the Summer or Monsoon seasons (June to Aug) will be affected by rain but the Summer climbing could be a boon for a keen botanist.

      We can find variety of these gears to hire or buy in Kathmandu. Majority of the gears which are in sale in Kathmandu are locally manufactured (hence a lot cheaper) and can find very high quality branded gears too in some famous stores in Kathmandu.

    Questions about your trip

    Climbing a peak is quite hard, as a climber, ropes, ice picks and essential item for climbing are mostly needed. There are some of vertical climbing involved. The ground is rough, rocky and gravel strewn. Most of the climb involves long paths that go up and then down. People with weak ankles should take caution. Use caution or seek the expertise of a guide.
    Climbers must be in excellent physical condition. Summit day can be 10-14 hours long.
    No problem. Many of our customers are traveling solo. Climbing peak always has export Sherpa and guides. It may also be an option to join a group. Yes, there is a supplemental cost if you are traveling alone, please contact us to find out more.
    The best time to climb Gokyo Everest Base Camp-Island Peak is in April and October.
    Except the personal usable gears like shoes, goggles, socks, sun creams, hat, trekking cloths and shoes , we provide all essential items whatever is needed for climbing.
    There are no any ATM's after starting the trek for climbing, but all the cities has.
    Yes. Most trips run smoothly, but once in awhile something unexpected can happen, that’s why we highly recommend that before coming to Nepal you purchase travel insurance. We take all the necessary precautions to make sure your safety is at first-hand, but it is always best to have it. Please see our travel insurance section for more information.
    It is possible. There is no way to tell beforehand how you will be affected by the altitude. It is usually above 3500 meters when people start to feel symptoms. Please see our page on altitude sickness for detailed information.
    Yes some of the place you will be able to use Internet if there in not any technical probem. eg; Lukla, Namche Bazzar, Pheriche and Gorakshep.
    Yes you can charge batteries but you'll be charged by the hour and you'll have to bring your own charger. Charges vary between 100 and 300 rupees per hour. When you left the usual trekking route and start to follow climbing trail there are no even place to charge batteries, we advise you to bring some extra batteries.
    Cell phones work at most of the places only on the trekking trail, depending on your mobile provider. There are also phone services almost everywhere we go except climbing area.
    We can tailor the accommodation to meet your requests. While in Kathmandu we generally stay in very nice 3-4 star hotels. During the treks, we will be staying in local guest houses along the trail. The guest houses vary, but overall are clean, charming and meet all of your needs. When we move on the way of climbing, will provide tents accommodation.
    There are basic pharmacies in larger villages along the trek. There's a hospital in Khumjung and a few altitude sickness clinics open during the peak season. Basically our guide will sort out the things what to do. However in the event of an emergency there usually is access to a telephone line or satellite phone for an evacuation via helicopter. This is another reason to be sure you are covered with adequate travel insurance!

    No, unless you request to. Our porters will carry up to 12 kgs of weight for each trekker. All you need to carry are your essential items for the day. The porter fee is included in the price of your trip. We plan for 1 porter for 2 trekkers in accordance to the guidelines set out by the International Porter Protection Group. If you would like more weight to be carried, please let us know. In general 12 kg is more than sufficient.
    The tap and mountain water in Nepal are generally not safe to drink for tourists. Bottled water, boiling water or using water purification tablets are your best options. Tea and coffee are okay to drink. Yes, the food is safe in Nepal. And delicious! For more information Please Contact us.
