Tamang Heritage Trek
Tamang are those people who came from Kerung in Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal, in early days they didn’t get Nepali citizenship so they changed their ethnicity to Tamang, which is what they still write till date. The cultural and traditions of Tamang are pretty much similar to the Tibetan across the border. Tamang Heritage Trek will offer great change to explore the tamang rituals, Tibetan culture, festivals, traditional architecture, costumes and local syabru dances.
A day long bus journey from Kathmandu to the destination is located just north of the Kathmandu Valley which is perhaps the most accessible trekking region in Nepal, where people can experience some of the most beautiful scenery in the country and trek through unspoiled Tamang villages. Tourist can enjoy the view of Langtang and Kerung from Goljung Pass. Tourist may buy some handicraft items like traditional caps, mufflers and other items that made by local people. Tourist can enjoy the hot-water spring at Tatopani on the way back. The ancient monasteries and houses adorned with rich wood engravings will give an unforgettable experience to the visitors. At Briddim, one gets to experience the famous Tamang hospitality, where home stay being popular in last few years. Currently there are 24 houses running well home stay service in the village.

Your safety is of our major concern while traveling with Mountain World Treks. Please note that your Trekking guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary.
However, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The Guide will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

Arriving Kathmandu meets you at the airport, transfer you to the hotel free time explore Thamel. Overnight at hotel.

After pre-tirp arrangement, briefing from your trekking guide you will go for your sightseeing around Kathmandu valley with professional tour guide. Overnight at hotel.

We leave for Syabrubesi after breakfast, which is our trekking starting point. 8-9 hours drive take us to the village. We get to enjoy superb views of Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh Himal on our drive. Overnight at Syabrubesi.

Our trek starts from Syabrubesi, we walk across the Village called Gatlang with the panoramic view of the Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Langtang Lirung and others. Gatlang is a village situated on the hillside with traditional stone houses. We stay overnight at Gatlang.

Today we descent to Thangbuche, on the way we enjoy views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Ranges. We ascend to Tatopani just after passing by the Chilime Hydropower dam. Stay overnight at Tatopani.

Today we trek to Thuman via Brimdang and Nagthali. We reach a Tamang village in Brimdang after walking through the dense alpine forest. Likewise we walk few hour uphill till Nagthali, where we enjoy the mesmerizing views of Langtang, Sanjen,Kerung and Ganesh Himal. After we can see nice Tamang village around on the trek downhill. We spend the night in Thuman.

Today, we trek to a Tibetan Buddhist village, Briddim. Which is located on the lap of the Langtang Himal. We visit the Dukchu Gomba monastery in Briddim, It will be great to see that most of the houses are built by stones and are inhabited mostly by people of Tibetan origin.

Today, we trek from Briddim to Syabrubesi. We start our descend trek after breakfast. Today will be an easy trek through lush green vegetation. After reaching Syabrubesi, we take rest and celebrate the completion of our trek.

We drive back to Kathmandu after the breakfast at hotel in Syabrubesi. Spend free time in Kathmandu or stroll in the Thamel street in evening time. Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.

We will Transfer you to International airport for final departure to your on wards destination.

Accommodation & Food details
We will provide tourist standard accommodations in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and this is possible to upgrade in your choice. All the accommodation in the cities and trekking will provided on twin sharing basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost extra.
During Tamang Heritage Trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. 3 meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Best Time To Visit
Autumn (Sept to Nov) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Tamang Heritage Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature then taking this trip during winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) could also be an another great option.
However, the temperature during winter could be harsh for most guests. Trekking in the Summer or Monsoon seasons (June to Aug) will be affected by rain but the Summer trek could be a boon for a keen botanist.

You are advised to consider the following equipment as essentials while packing. Please use this link as a guideline. Adjustments to the list can be managed according to our requirements, interests, duration of trip, and season of trip. We can find variety of these gears to hire or buy in Kathmandu.
Majority of the gears which are in sale in Kathmandu are locally manufactured (hence a lot cheaper) and some gears found here are imported from China and are obviously of better quality. We can find very high quality branded gears too in some famous stores in Kathmandu.
