Gosainkunda Lake Trek
Gosainkunda lake trek is much a spiritual journey as a physical one, also known for wonderful scenery. Ringed by high mountains on the northern and eastern sides, the lake offers a fascinating sight. The lake is located at an altitude of about 4380m. Every year during Janai Purnima in August, hundreds of pilgrims visit for a holy bath in the lake as it is a holy site of both Hinduism and Buddhism.
Reaching to the lake is not much hard for the trekker. The trek begins and ends in the historic city of Kathmandu. A few days trek with adventure will bring you to the banks of Gosaikunda Lake which offers fascinating Himalayan views along the way. From Syabru, the trails generally ascend across forests. On the way you will also come across a monastery and a cheese factory. Above here, the trail climbs through tall fir stands before emerging above the tree line for increasingly panoramic views of the high peaks and finally entering the barren upper reaches of the Trishuli river, where glacial moraines and rockslides have left a string of half a dozen lakes.

Your safety is of our major concern while traveling with Mountain World Treks. Please note that your Trekking guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary.

The Guide will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

Best Time To VisitAutumn (Sept to Nov) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Gosaikunda Lake Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature then taking this trip during winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) could also be an another great option. However, the temperature during winter could be harsh for most guests. Trekking in the Summer or Monsoon seasons (June to Aug) will be affected by rain but the Summer trek could be a boon for a keen botanist.
You are advised to consider the following equipment as essentials while packing. Please use this link as a guideline.
