Langtang Tamang Heritage Trek
The Langtang Tamang heritage trek is a newly opened trekking route located between Mount Langtang and Ganesh Himal, situated just north of the Kathmandu Valley. Langtang is the region of ancient Tibetan Monasteries, Rhododendron and Bamboo Forests, Majestic Waterfalls, many sacred Lakes, reflecting the solitude and the serenity of the Himalayan scenery. Travelers can have views of mountains like Lirung, Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges.
Less trekkers follow this region then either the Annapurna or Everest regions. The Langtang region was Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park and was officially established in 1976.
This an ideal trek will help to explore the unique Tamang culture while visiting their native land, the land of indigenous inhabitant of the Langtang region Nepal. The ethnic group has held its traditional lifestyle which hasn’t changed much since the beginning of the settlement. The exposure to the unique culture and lifestyle of the Tamang, Their warm welcome, their traditional mountain houses, ancient monasteries, Gompas add makes the trail all more exciting. The craftsmanship, dress, traditionally built stone-mud houses and the beautifully carved wooden porches in Tamang villages are widely appreciated.

Your safety is of our major concern while traveling with Mountain World Treks. Please note that your Trekking guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary.
However, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The Guide will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

We will pick up you from the Kathmandu airport and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free time to explore Thamel.

Pre tour briefing by the company owner and start your full day guided sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley ( Kathmandu darbar square, Monkey temple, Pasupati nath Temple, Bhaktapur etc). Overnight at hotel on BB basis.

Early morning drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi by bus. The road continues through beautiful village at the foot of the mountains. Overnight at a local lodge.
(If you prefer to hire a jeep (5 hours) you can, which will add the price by 150 $ on the total cost). -
We start to trek after breakfast. On the way you of ascent from Syabrubesi, after reaching the view point you can see the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Take lunch in Goljang valley and continue to walk through beautiful Tamang village. Overnight at the community lodge.

The walk begins by descending to Thangbuchet by the Bhotekoshi River. Stop for the lunch. After lunch, the trail will be ascending up crossing a suspension bridge. Ascent continues until you get to Tatopani which literally means ‘hot water’, you can cleanse yourself in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. Dinner and overnight stay at local Tea Lodge.

On your ascent today, stop for lunch at Brimdang village. After lunch the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda at 3300m. Trek continues down to Thuman, a Tibetan influenced Tamang village with friendly people who love to sing and dance. Dinner and overnight at local Tea Lodge.

The trail begin with flat trail and descends to Timure en route to the old trade route to Tibet. Take lunch. The border of Nepal and Tibet is just a 3 hour walk away here. After lunch the trail continues for Briddim another Tibetan influenced Tamang village. A homestay at Briddim will be a unique experience where you going to spend a night.

We will trek today from Briddim to Lama Hotel through descends trail to Ghopche khola. Then we ascend to Lama Hotel via Rimche. Lama Hotel is located on the banks of the Langtang River and surrounded by lush forests and amazing mountain views. Overnight at Lama Hotel.

After breakfast, we move towards the Langtang Village. Trail continues along the dense forests. After climbing up steadily through the valley, on the way, we also enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung, pass by water mills, prayer wheels and chortens adorned with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.

Today, we pass the largest mani wall in Nepal which is made from stone with prayers written on them. It is believed that the prayers on the mani wall spreads around by blowing winds. We cross several wooden bridges before reaching Kanjin Gompa which is beautifully surrounded by the mighty Himalayas. We can take a walk around the Kanjin Gompa enjoying astounding views of glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks.

We trek back to the Lama Hotel same way we ascend. The trek is only downhill through forests and alongside a beautiful mountain river. On the way we pass through the ethnic settlements of the Tamang people whose religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

After breakfast, we trek down to Syabrubensi which will be an easy trek through lush green vegetation. After reaching Syabrubesi, take lunch and rest day. Overnight at Syaprubesi lodge.

We will drive back to Kathmandu after breakfast. Arriving in Kathmandu by lunch time. You will have a choice either to take a rest or hanging in the street of Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu hotel.

Transfer to airport for your on wards destination.

Accommodation & Food details
We will provide tourist standard accommodations in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and this is possible to upgrade in your choice. All the accommodation in the cities and trekking will provided on twin sharing basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost extra.
During Langtang Tamang Heritage Trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. 3 meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Best Time To Visit
Autumn (Sept to Nov) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Langtang Tamang Heritage Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature then taking this trip during winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) could also be an another great option.
However, the temperature during winter could be harsh for most guests. Trekking in the Summer or Monsoon seasons (June to Aug) will be affected by rain but the Summer trek could be a boon for a keen botanist.

You are advised to consider the following equipment as essentials while packing. Please use this link as a guideline. Adjustments to the list can be managed according to our requirements, interests, duration of trip, and season of trip. We can find variety of these gears to hire or buy in Kathmandu.
Majority of the gears which are in sale in Kathmandu are locally manufactured (hence a lot cheaper) and some gears found here are imported from China and are obviously of better quality. We can find very high quality branded gears too in some famous stores in Kathmandu.
