LANGTANG TREK - Sali Trekking LANGTANG TREK - Sali Trekking

Trip Overview

The Langtang Valley Trek, sometimes called “the valley of the glaciers” is in close proximity to Kathmandu which makes it a an easily accessible hiking destination. As the nickname implies, there are many glaciers at a low altitude which can easily be explored. The name Langtang comes from an ancient legend wherein a Tibetan Lama was searching for his yak (in Tibetan lang) and following (in Tibetan tang) it found this amazing valley.

This trek takes one close to Tibet, as the valley lies just south of that border. You will be able to learn much about the traditions and culture of the Tamang people who live in the region and how they share many of the same customs as the Tibetans. Trekking through a sub-tropical jungle, then a dense forest of oak, birch and pine, the valley opens out onto alpine meadows and yak pastures. The highlight in spring is beholding the splendor of these high meadows carpeted with a rich variety of alpine wildflowers and the forests in full bloom with rare tree orchids, wild primulas and colourful rhododendron.

The Langtang Valley Trek is an ideal choice for both nature lovers and adventurers. It is an easy to moderate trek which fits all age groups and fitness levels. It is also a popular hike for families. Accommodations along the way are in modest but clean tea houses which also have restaurants serving a choice of menus.
