MARDI HIMAL AND ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK - Mountain World Treks MARDI HIMAL AND ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK - Mountain World Treks

Trip Overview

Imagine getting two of Nepal’s most spectacular treks in one unforgettable journey. The Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp Trek combines the rising star of the Annapurna region, which is the serene Mardi Himal ridge with the world-famous Annapurna Sanctuary, giving you the best of both worlds in just 13 to 14 days.

You begin from beautiful Pokhara, driving to the trailhead and slowly ascending through lush green hills and traditional Gurung villages. The first days take you along the peaceful Mardi Himal trail, far less crowded than its famous neighbour. As you climb higher, the path transforms: dense rhododendron forests (blazing red and pink in spring) give way to open alpine meadows and narrow, airy ridges. By the time you reach Mardi Himal High Camp at 3,580 m, the world falls away beneath you. The 360° panorama from the viewpoint at 4,200 m is breath-taking showing us The Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machapuchare, and Annapurna I tower impossibly close, while the Pokhara valley glimmers thousands of meters below.

After soaking in the solitude and magic of Mardi, you descend and join the classic Annapurna Base Camp trail. The landscape changes dramatically as you enter the deep Modi Khola gorge, cross bamboo forests, and climb steadily toward the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. At 4,130 m, Annapurna Base Camp feels like stepping into a giant natural amphitheater. You’re completely surrounded by a ring of snow giants: Annapurna I, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, and the sacred, unclimbed Machapuchare. Sunrise here is pure magic and golden light spills over the peaks while you sip hot tea in total silence.

The return journey treats your tired muscles to a relaxing soak in the natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda before you descend through picturesque villages back to Pokhara.

This trek is moderately challenging where no technical skills needed, just good fitness and a love for mountains. You stay in cozy teahouses every night, eat hearty Dal Bhat, and fall asleep to star-filled Himalayan skies. In one trip, you experience intimate ridge walks, peaceful forests, and one of the most dramatic mountain arenas on Earth. It’s not just a trek but it’s two bucket-list adventures perfectly woven together.
